Sunan Abu Dawud — Prayer

Abd b. 'Amr b. al-'As said:The Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) said: There are seven takers in the first rak'ah and five in the second rak'ah of the prayer offered on the day of the breaking of the fast

حدثنا مسدد، حدثنا المعتمر، قال سمعت عبد الله بن عبد الرحمن الطايفي، يحدث عن عمرو بن شعيب، عن ابيه، عن عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص، قال قال نبي الله صلى الله عليه وسلم " التكبير في الفطر سبع في الاولى وخمس في الاخرة والقراءة بعدهما كلتيهما

Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say on the day of the breaking of the fast seven takbirs in the first rak'ah and then recite the Qur'an, and utter the takbir (Allah is most great). Then he would stand, and utter the takbir four times. Thereafter he would recite the Qur'an and bow. Abu Dawud said: This has been narrated by Waki' and Ibn al-Mubarak. Their version goes: "Seven (in the first rak'ah) and five (in the second)

حدثنا ابو توبة الربيع بن نافع، حدثنا سليمان، - يعني ابن حيان - عن ابي يعلى الطايفي، عن عمرو بن شعيب، عن ابيه، عن جده، ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يكبر في الفطر في الاولى سبعا ثم يقرا ثم يكبر ثم يقوم فيكبر اربعا ثم يقرا ثم يركع . قال ابو داود رواه وكيع وابن المبارك قالا سبعا وخمسا

Abu 'Aishah said:Sa'id b. al-'As asked Abu Musa al-Ash'ari and Hudhaifah b. al-Yaman: How would the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) utter the takbir (Allah is most great) in the prayer of the day of sacrifice and of the breaking of the fast. Abu Musa said: He uttered takbir four times as he did at funerals. Hudhaifah said: He is correct. Then Abu Musa said: I used to utter the takbir in a similar way when I was the governor of Basrah. Abu 'Aishah said: I was present there when Sa'id b. al-'As asked

حدثنا محمد بن العلاء، وابن ابي زياد، - المعنى قريب - قالا حدثنا زيد، - يعني ابن حباب - عن عبد الرحمن بن ثوبان، عن ابيه، عن مكحول، قال اخبرني ابو عايشة، جليس لابي هريرة ان سعيد بن العاص، سال ابا موسى الاشعري وحذيفة بن اليمان كيف كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يكبر في الاضحى والفطر فقال ابو موسى كان يكبر اربعا تكبيره على الجنايز . فقال حذيفة صدق . فقال ابو موسى كذلك كنت اكبر في البصرة حيث كنت عليهم . وقال ابو عايشة وانا حاضر سعيد بن العاص

Ubaid Allah b. 'Abd Allah b. 'Utbah b. Mas'ud said:'Umar b. al-Khattab asked Abu Waqid al-Laithi: What did the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) recite during the prayer on the day of sacrifice and on the breaking of the fast ? حدثنا القعنبي، عن مالك، عن ضمرة بن سعيد المازني، عن عبيد الله بن عبد الله بن عتبة بن مسعود، ان عمر بن الخطاب، سال ابا واقد الليثي ماذا كان يقرا به رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في الاضحى والفطر قال كان يقرا فيهما { ق والقران المجيد } و { اقتربت الساعة وانشق القمر}

Narrated Abdullah ibn as-Sa'ib: I attended the 'Id prayer along with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). When he finished the prayer, he said: We shall deliver the sermon; he who likes to sit for listening to it may sit and he who likes to go away may go away. Abu Dawud said: this is a mursal tradition (i.e. the successor 'Ata directly reporting from the Prophet (ﷺ) and omitting the link of the Companions

حدثنا محمد بن الصباح البزاز، حدثنا الفضل بن موسى السيناني، حدثنا ابن جريج، عن عطاء، عن عبد الله بن السايب، قال شهدت مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم العيد فلما قضى الصلاة قال " انا نخطب فمن احب ان يجلس للخطبة فليجلس ومن احب ان يذهب فليذهب " . قال ابو داود هذا مرسل عن عطاء عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went out by one road on the day of the 'Id (festival) and returned by another

حدثنا عبد الله بن مسلمة، حدثنا عبد الله، - يعني ابن عمر - عن نافع، عن ابن عمر، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم اخذ يوم العيد في طريق ثم رجع في طريق اخر

Narrated AbuUmayr ibn Anas: AbuUmayr reported on the authority of some of his paternal uncles who were Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ): Some men came riding to the Prophet (ﷺ) and testified that they had sighted the new moon the previous day. He (the Holy Prophet), therefore, commanded the people to break the fast and to go out to their place of prayer in the morning

حدثنا حفص بن عمر، حدثنا شعبة، عن جعفر بن ابي وحشية، عن ابي عمير بن انس، عن عمومة، له من اصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ان ركبا جاءوا الى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يشهدون انهم راوا الهلال بالامس فامرهم ان يفطروا واذا اصبحوا ان يغدوا الى مصلاهم

Narrated Bakr ibn Mubashshir al-Ansari: I used to go to the place of prayer on the day of the breaking of the fast, and on the day of sacrifice along with the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). We would walk through a valley known as Batn Bathan till we came to the place of prayer. Then we would pray along with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and return through Batn Bathan to our house

حدثنا حمزة بن نصير، حدثنا ابن ابي مريم، حدثنا ابراهيم بن سويد، اخبرني انيس بن ابي يحيى، اخبرني اسحاق بن سالم، مولى نوفل بن عدي اخبرني بكر بن مبشر الانصاري، قال كنت اغدو مع اصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم الى المصلى يوم الفطر ويوم الاضحى فنسلك بطن بطحان حتى ناتي المصلى فنصلي مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ثم نرجع من بطن بطحان الى بيوتنا

Ibn 'Abbas said:The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came out on the day of the breaking of the fast and prayed two rak'ahs, before and after which he did not pray. He then went to women, taking Bilal with him, and commanded them to given alms. So one began to put her ear-ring and another her necklace (in the garment of Bilal)

حدثنا حفص بن عمر، حدثنا شعبة، حدثني عدي بن ثابت، عن سعيد بن جبير، عن ابن عباس، قال خرج رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم فطر فصلى ركعتين لم يصل قبلهما ولا بعدهما ثم اتى النساء ومعه بلال فامرهن بالصدقة فجعلت المراة تلقي خرصها وسخابها

Narrated AbuHurayrah: The rain fell on the day of 'Id (festival) , so the Prophet (ﷺ) led them (the people) in the 'Id prayer in the mosque

حدثنا هشام بن عمار، حدثنا الوليد، ح وحدثنا الربيع بن سليمان، حدثنا عبد الله بن يوسف، حدثنا الوليد بن مسلم، حدثنا رجل، من الفرويين - وسماه الربيع في حديثه عيسى بن عبد الاعلى بن ابي فروة - سمع ابا يحيى عبيد الله التيمي يحدث عن ابي هريرة انه اصابهم مطر في يوم عيد فصلى بهم النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم صلاة العيد في المسجد
