Sunan Ibn Majah - Asceticism and Detachment
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:“Ja’far bin Abu Talib used to like the poor; he would sit with them and talk to them, and they would talk to him. And the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave him the Kunyah of Abul-Masakin (Father of the Poor).”
حدثنا عبد الله بن سعيد الكندي، حدثنا اسماعيل بن ابراهيم التيمي ابو يحيى، حدثنا ابراهيم ابو اسحاق المخزومي، عن المقبري، عن ابي هريرة، قال كان جعفر بن ابي طالب يحب المساكين ويجلس اليهم ويحدثهم ويحدثونه وكان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يكنيه ابا المساكين
