Abu Hurairah narrated:"The Messenger of Allah would encourage the night prayer in Ramadan without firmly ordering it, and he would say: "Whoever stands (in the night prayer) for Ramadan with faith and seeking the reward (from Allah), then he will be forgiven what has preceded of his sins.' So the Messenger of Allah died and the matter was like that. Then the matter was the same during the Khilafah of Abu Bakr and it continued during a portion of the Khilafah of Umar bin Al-Khattab

حدثنا عبد بن حميد، حدثنا عبد الرزاق، اخبرنا معمر، عن الزهري، عن ابي سلمة، عن ابي هريرة، قال كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يرغب في قيام رمضان من غير ان يامرهم بعزيمة ويقول " من قام رمضان ايمانا واحتسابا غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبه " . فتوفي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم والامر على ذلك ثم كان الامر كذلك في خلافة ابي بكر وصدرا من خلافة عمر بن الخطاب على ذلك . وفي الباب عن عايشة . قال ابو عيسى هذا حديث صحيح . وقد روي هذا الحديث ايضا عن الزهري عن عروة عن عايشة عن النبي قال ابو عيسى هذا حديث حسن صحيح
